Interested in biodiversity conservation in the Andes-Amazon
region?
Moore Foundation Fellowship
Moore fellows will receive funds to cover full tuition and a modest
stipend
for all three years of the program. In addition, they will receive
funds for
at least one summer internship to be carried out with a Moore
Foundation
grantee organization in the Andes-Amazon region.
Purpose and Background
The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation seeks to strengthen the
managerial
capacities of environmental and conservation organizations around
the world,
but especially those that operate in the Andes-Amazon region.
Because this
area of the world holds particular interest for the Moore
Foundation, Yale
University and the Foundation have entered into a partnership to
provide
world-class professional development to a select group of managers
who will,
upon graduation, seek employment with organizations in the
region-especially
those receiving support from the Moore Foundation. After
graduation,
grantees will agree to work for at least three years in
environmental or
conservation organizations in the region.
Yale's professional Schools of Management (SOM) and Forestry &
Environmental
Studies (FES) have proven track records when it comes to producing
today's
conservation and environmental leaders. Under an innovative,
three-year
joint degree program that combines training for an MBA and an
Environmental
Master's degree, Yale has for more than 20 years prepared students
with a
top-notch education that combines a solid grounding in
environmental
sciences and conservation with cutting-edge management skills. The
record is
clear and reflected in the successful careers and leadership of
previous
graduates of the program.
The Moore Fellows Program seeks well qualified candidates to
undertake the
three-year, joint degree program. Successful applicants will
receive full
tuition and living expenses for each of the three years of the
program. In
addition, funding is provided for at least one summer internship to
be
carried out with a Moore Foundation grantee organization in the
Andes-Amazon
region.
Objective of the Moore Fellowship
The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation seeks to strengthen the
managerial
capacities of environmental and conservation organizations around
the world,
especially those that operate in the Andes-Amazon region. The
Moore
Foundation and Yale University have partnered to provide
world-class
professional development to a select group of managers who will,
upon
graduation, seek employment with organizations in the region.
Equipped with
a joint MBA / MEM from the Yale School of Management and the Yale
School of
Forestry and Environmental Studies, these managers will have the
tools to
effectively create change in some of the most critical eco-systems
in the
world.
Scholarship Award
Moore fellows will receive funds to cover full tuition and a modest
stipend
for all three years of the program. In addition, they will receive
funds for
at least one summer internship, to be carried out with a Moore
Foundation
grantee organization in the Andes-Amazon region.
Post-graduation Commitment
Moore fellows must commit to working within the biodiversity
conservation
field in the Andes-Amazon region for at least three years
following
graduation. While fellows are not required to work for a Moore
Foundation
grantee organization, the position must be approved by the Moore
Foundation.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants for the Moore Fellowships must have work
experience
within the biodiversity conservation field in the Andes-Amazon
region and
must be accepted to both Masters programs. While the fellowship is
not
limited to citizens and permanent residents of a country in the
Andes-Amazon
region, these applicants are preferred.

Application Process
There is no separate application for the Moore Fellowships.
Applicants must
apply to each school separately in accordance to their deadlines
and
requirements. Indicate your interest in the Moore Fellowship on
each
application.
The School of Forestry & Environmental Studies has one
admissions deadline
(December 15) and only accepts online applications.
The School of Management has three admissions deadlines and only
accepts
online applications. Please go to the SOM Admissions website to
view the
deadlines and online application. Questions related to the School
of
Management may be directed to the Admissions Office.
Because the two application processes are separate, applicants must
submit
transcripts and recommendations to both schools. Applicants may
either
request separate recommenders for each school or ask each
recommender to
send two versions of the recommendation -- one to SOM and one to
FES. We
want to learn about an applicant's suitability for each school and
program.
Note: SOM requires two letters, while FES requires three
letters.
